In Miramos we meet four unusual creatures who are on a visit to our blue-green planet. They investigate our world with curiosity and fascination. But where do they come from and what are they actually doing here?
Miramos lets us in on a magical and playful journey outside of time, amongst colours, shapes and imagination. It shows us how to find the courage to approach and become friends with someone who looks very different.
Taking inspiration from the works of artist Joan Miró, the Norwegian Choreographer Torgunn Wold and Spanish Dramaturg Paulo Serantes have created a wordless, playful performance through the meeting of dance, theatre and music.
Miramos is for ages 4-8 and families. Spinn’s dancers Izabell Makiela and Felicia Sparrström are joined by guest dancers Annika Vestel and Britta Kangas. The performance includes classical music by composers such as Gabriel Fauré, Claude Debussy and Camille Saint-Saëns. Miramos had its premiere on 4th April 2019 at Frölunda Kulturhus, Gothenburg.
Danskompaniet Spinn is a professional dance company with dancers with and without disabilities, based in Gothenburg, Sweden. We are passionate about the art of dance and about challenging stereotypes about what dance is and can be. For us it’s about different bodies and new ways of creating and presenting dance art
Spinn was founded in 2010 by Artistic Director Veera Suvalo Grimberg. We work with Swedish and international choreographers and composers who are interested in an artistic dialogue, and who wants to explore both their own as well as our artistic expression.
In 2016-218 we were part of the EU-project Moving Beyond Inclusion. The project was a two-year activity program aiming to display diversity and create equal opportunities for everybody in practicing the art of dance. Moving Beyond Inclusion collected companies and festivals like Candoco Dance Company (GB), Oriente Occidente Dance Festival (IT) and others. A majority of the partners – along with CODA International Dance Festival (NO) – are also part of the international collaboration project Spark, with activities lasting until September 2021.
Since the start in 2010, we have created and toured both bigger and smaller productions in Sweden and internationally, for both adults and children and youth. Spinn also gives workshops and lectures where we meet other dance artists, children in kindergarten, museum curators, personal assistants, politicians, students, teachers and many more.
